Cooks Tooth

This is a small summit near the coast south of the coastal village Porangahau. It is called Cook’s Tooth due to an exposed lime rock representing a large tooth. This summit can be activated from the roadside and there are plenty of trees to sling an aerial between. You can park your car off the road near the entrance to the farm without blocking any access ways.

9 contacts made from this summit, all on 7 MHz. Thanks to Eddie ZL2TEW who picked up my call on 670 and relayed the spot details to John ZL1BYZ. This is an easy one for a Sunday drive although it takes more than an hours drive from Hastings to get here. While I was activating I had the pleasure of watching a cargo ship pass by out to sea.
